Mille Miglia
« on: May 17, 2018, 07:54:12 AM »
Fisico is going to be in the Mille Miglia, which I think may be his first historic race. It starts tomorrow and continues through the weekend. Competitors go from Rome to Pescara and back. It's not a competitive race, in the sense that nobody is trying to win (the competitive element was banned from this race in 1957 after the Pope objected to the dangers of racing the event competitively), so it is now raced as a sort of 1000-mile parade, with lots of old racing cars travelling the old route but still obeying regular traffic laws.

Fisico started the last stage of the Mille Miglia today, at the rather early time of 7:03 am. I have not seen the photo of him finishing yet, but when he does he will get a square silvery medal with the Italian tricolour ribbon, just like Esteban Ocon here.

Fisico has declared his Mille Miglia as "a beautiful experience".
